Open a plugin's web page over https:// with a Cloudflare temporary link

Last updated October 1, 2026

Short answer

Browsers only let a web page use the microphone over https, so SimpleVoice-Geyser's voice page needs an https:// address. On uniz.host, open an extra port for the plugin's web page, set that port in the plugin's file, then go to the Cloudflare Tunnel page and press "Create temporary link" on that page's row. Within seconds you get an https://…trycloudflare.com link to send to friends. The link changes every time the server sleeps and wakes, an account can have 3 links, anyone with the link can open it, and visiting the page does not wake the server.

Steps at a glance
  1. Open an extra port for the plugin's web page
  2. Set the port in the plugin's file
  3. Create a temporary link on the Cloudflare Tunnel page
  4. Send the link to friends and allow the microphone

Some Minecraft plugins come with a web page of their own. SimpleVoice-Geyser serves a page that lets Bedrock players join Simple Voice Chat from a browser, and web map plugins serve a live map. On uniz.host those pages already run on an extra port, but a plain http://address:port is not enough for everything — the voice page in particular needs an https:// address. A Cloudflare temporary link gives you one in a single click, with no domain and no Cloudflare account. This guide walks through the whole thing once, then covers the limits to know before you send the link to anyone.

Why the voice page needs https

Browsers only let a web page use the microphone when it is served over a secure connection. SimpleVoice-Geyser's own documentation says browsers require HTTPS for microphone access, and that on plain http:// the microphone may be blocked or the connection may fail. There is a Chrome setting that treats one insecure address as secure, but the plugin's own docs call it a workaround, not a long-term solution — and you cannot ask every player to change their browser flags.

A temporary link solves this directly. Visitors open https://random-words.trycloudflare.com; Cloudflare handles the https part and passes the request through a connector that uniz.host runs to the page on your server.

Before you start

  • It is your own server. The Cloudflare Tunnel page lists only the web pages of servers you own. For a server someone shared with you, its owner creates the link.
  • The plugin is installed on a Minecraft server you run on uniz.host, and you can edit its files.
  • The server is on while you use it. A link works only while the server is running.

Step by step

Open an extra port for the plugin's web page

Open your server, then its "Settings" tab, and find the "Extra ports" panel. Under "One-click ports" press the plugin's preset, for example "SimpleVoice-Geyser". The panel then says the port is open with one step left, and names the file and the line to change. The web pages on the Cloudflare Tunnel page come from these extra ports: with no extra port open, there is no row to create a link on.

Set the port in the plugin's file

For SimpleVoice-Geyser the file is plugins/SimpleVoice-Geyser/config.yml and the setting sits under server::

server:
  port: 30246

Use the port number the panel shows you — 30246 above is only an example. Change the value in the file, save it, and restart the server. The plugin's own default is 8080, so if the page does not come up later, check that the file really holds the new number.

Create a temporary link on the Cloudflare Tunnel page

From the dashboard's menu open "Cloudflare Tunnel". The "Temporary links" card has one row per web page, with the server's name and the port. Press "Create temporary link" on the row you want. The row shows "Creating link…" while Cloudflare sends the link back; the page re-reads every 10 seconds by itself, so there is no need to reload.

It worked when the row shows the "Working" badge and an https://…trycloudflare.com link. Press the "Open link" arrow button beside it to open it in a new tab, or the "Copy link" button next to it to take the full link.

If it didn't: if the row says "Couldn't create the link: Cloudflare didn't answer", press "Try again". If the link appears but the page won't open, check the port number in the plugin's file again.

In the server's "Settings" tab, the Cloudflare Tunnel section says how many temporary links the server has, with a "Manage on the Cloudflare Tunnel page" link.

Send the link to friends and allow the microphone

With the server on, open the link. Your browser asks about the microphone — allow it, then send the link to your players. They use it alongside the game; joining the game still uses your uniz.host address.

The limits to know

  • The link changes every time the server sleeps and wakes. While the server sleeps, the row shows the "Server asleep" badge and the old link struck through, because it no longer works. When the server wakes, a new link arrives by itself: the row shows a "New link" badge with the time for a while, and you get a "Your temporary link changed" notification. Send the new link to your friends again. A link can also change when its connector restarts, even without the server sleeping.
  • Visiting the page does not wake the server. The connector runs only while the server is on, so start the server first.
  • 3 links per account, and 1 link per web page. Once you reach 3, the card asks you to close a link you don't use, and the create buttons of the other pages are disabled. "Close link" asks no confirmation, because you can create a new one at once — but the new link will be different.
  • Cloudflare offers these for testing. Cloudflare's documentation says quick links are for testing and development, have no uptime guarantee, and each supports up to 200 in-flight requests. They suit playing with your group, not a busy public site.
  • Web pages only. A link forwards only a web page on one of the server's TCP extra ports, and Cloudflare says these links do not support Server-Sent Events (SSE).
  • Anyone with the link can open it. There is no password or sign-in, so think before sharing a page that shows player data. If a link gets out, close it and create a new one.

When something doesn't work

  • The page you want is not in the card. The web pages come from the extra ports open on your servers. Open an extra port in the server's "Settings" tab first.
  • You hear a friend, but they cannot be heard. If the game shows message.voicechat.no_speak_permission or "You don't have permission to speak", the Simple Voice Chat plugin is not granting that player voicechat.speak. This usually happens on servers running LuckPerms and has nothing to do with the link. In the console, lp user <player> permission check voicechat.speak shows which group turns it off; lp group default permission set voicechat.speak true and lp group default permission set voicechat.listen true allow everyone. Then have the player leave the page and open it again — no server restart needed.
  • A friend says the link won't open. Look at the page's row first. "Server asleep" means start the server; a "New link" badge means the link changed recently, so send them the new one. The badge shows only for a while after a change: if the row says "Working" and the link still won't open, compare their link with the one on the row, and send the row's link if they differ.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a domain or a Cloudflare account?

No. A temporary link is a random trycloudflare.com address that Cloudflare hands out, and uniz.host runs the connector for you. You only press "Create temporary link" on the Cloudflare Tunnel page.

Why does the link change?

A temporary link belongs to a connector that runs only while the server is on. When the server sleeps the old link stops working; when it wakes, Cloudflare gives a new one. A link can also change when the connector restarts without the server sleeping. The page's row shows a "New link" badge with the time for a while after the link changes, and you get a "Your temporary link changed" notification — send the new link to your friends again.

Who can open the link?

Anyone who has it. There is no password or sign-in, so send it only to people who should see that page — a web map, for example, shows where players are. If a link gets out, press "Close link" and create a new one; the new link is different.

Does visiting the page wake a sleeping server?

No. The link's connector runs only while the server is on, and visiting the page does not wake the server. Start the server first and the new link arrives by itself.

How many links can I have?

3 per account, and 1 link per web page. Once you have 3, the create buttons of the other pages are disabled; close a link you don't use and create the one you need.

Do players join the game through this link?

No. A temporary link only opens the plugin's web page. Players still join the game at your uniz.host address.
